Guild Wars 2 offers an expansive and engaging world for you to explore and grow in. Here, we'll guide you through the process of leveling up in the game, divided into different sections based on the level you're at.
Creating a character in Guild Wars 2 is the first step in your journey. You have five races to choose from - Humans, Norn, Asura, Charr, and Sylvari, each with their unique lore, culture, and starting areas. There are nine different professions (classes) available, each with its unique abilities and playstyles, such as Warrior, Elementalist, or Thief.
While creating your character, you’ll need to choose a home server. For members of the Wildcat Alliance Guild, we recommend choosing Sorrow’s Furnace as your home server.
Upon creation, your character will enter a tutorial that will introduce you to the basics of the game. It will guide you through your first fight, allow you to test your abilities, and take you through the storyline of your chosen race.
After completing the tutorial, you will be sent to your race's main city. These cities are bustling hubs of activity where you can buy and sell items, interact with other players, and begin your journey.
For levels 1-20, focus on completing hearts (tasks) in the starting zones, participating in dynamic events, gathering materials, and exploring the world. Map completion in each area will grant you a significant chunk of experience and rewards.
Now that you have a solid foundation, it's time to broaden your horizons. Continue to explore new areas, complete hearts and dynamic events. At level 30, start your first dungeon, Ascalonian Catacombs, for more experience and a change of pace.
At level 35, it's time to venture to Lions Arch, the main hub city that connects all racial cities and other significant areas. Lions Arch serves as a portal hub and can be accessed through Asura Gates in your race's main city.
Continue your journey by exploring new zones, taking part in World versus World (WvW) battles (available from level 31), and keeping up with your personal story missions.
As you progress further, make sure to mix up your activities to keep the experience engaging. Don't limit yourself to just PvE; partake in PvP battles (available from level 60), engage in Fractals of the Mists (from level 80), or explore the storyline of expansions if you own them.
Food & Utility Items: Always have some food and utility consumables active. These give you a bonus 10-20% experience from all sources.
Experience Boosters: These can be obtained from various sources in the game and will significantly increase your leveling speed.
Daily Achievements: Completing your daily achievements will grant you a substantial amount of experience.
Remember, Guild Wars 2 is all about the journey rather than the destination. Take your time, explore the beautiful world, engage with the storyline, and most importantly, have fun!
